Why do we feel an inexplicable connection to someone?

Why do we feel an inexplicable connection to someone?

The human brain is a complex network of neurons, that processes information and creates thoughts. When we meet someone for the first time, and we feel an instant connection with them, it can be confusing and inexplicable why that happened.

It is a deep, intimate feeling that we can’t explain. We know that person is important to us and we want to be there for them in every way possible. Or, at least we enjoy being around them and in their presence, without any clue or idea on why that may be the case.

So, why is that? Here are a few reasons why you may have an inexplicable connection with someone you just met:

Reasons why you may feel drawn to someone you barely know:

1) Physical attraction:

The first factor is physical attraction. Sometimes, it’s hard for us to admit the fact that physical looks play a huge role in our attraction toward someone. We say “No, it’s not it”, we think it’s something bigger or deeper; because we don’t want to face the simple fact that we can be very superficial and shallow sometimes, as humans.

We may say that they’re not our “usual type” or that they’re not that attractive, but in the end, if you feel a strong connection or attraction towards someone then you should know that a big part of it may be that you simply like the way they look.

You may also like their charm, charisma, the way they carry themselves, how they talk, their body language, and how they look at you.

2) Familiarity and comfort:

The second factor is familiarity and comfort level. We often find people with whom we have a lot of things in common and feel comfortable around them.

We often find ourselves attracted to people that we are familiar. It can be someone we see every day or someone we just met. Our attraction in this case is not based on their looks or personality, but on something else that makes us feel a connection with them. For instance, maybe they remind us of our mother in a way that we had a nurturing, warm, and loving one.

Or, maybe that person’s actions and words remind us of our sweet childhood or a happy phase in our past, or even a person we have lost to sickness. Either way, most times it is hard to point a finger at what it is that makes them seem so familiar, but what’s certain is that we feel an undeniable connection with them.

3) Personality and being on the same wavelength:

Humans are social creatures and we have an innate need to connect with others. The most basic form of this is through expressing ourselves with our unique and distinct personalities, or even a smile or a laugh.

There are some personality traits that we find attractive too; like being open-minded or compassionate towards others. These traits are also found in people who share similar interests with us and who can be our friends too!

The concept of feeling a connection with someone has been around for centuries. It was first described by Aristotle in his book, The Nicomachean Ethics, which states that we are drawn to people who have similar personality traits as us, such as intelligence and honesty.

4) We can relate to them and to their situation:

Our brain has a complex system that can sense and react to the emotions of others. This is called the “mirror neuron system”.

The mirror neuron system is a neural system that allows us to feel what others are feeling, find compassion, and relate. This allows us to have empathy for other people and helps us understand their emotions better.

It’s this connection with someone that can make us feel very sad for their sadness, happy for their happiness, and an unexplainable connection with them, even if we’ve never met them before. There are some people that have this natural skill of making others find love, compassion, and understanding for them; because they’re good at communicating their emotions, thoughts, and state of mind.

5) We share the same life mission, aspirations, and purpose:

We all have different ideas of what it means to feel connected with someone. Some people think of it as having common values and life goals, while others think of it as sharing the same purpose in their life. Either way, one thing is for sure: we tend to click and bond with people with the same life mission, career, or aspirations as us.

When you find out that two people have similar thoughts on certain issues, it makes them feel more comfortable around each other because they can relate to each other easily and understand their perspectives better. The reason why we feel this connection is because we share the same life philosophy and similar desires to live life in a specific way.

Either way, when we have the same life story, beliefs, values, and purpose as someone else; we feel a lot closer to them and see our own selves in them.

6) We have known them in a different life:

As fictional and crazy as this last possible reason sounds, many people around the world are firm believers in reincarnation. Sometimes, the way these people would explain an undeniable and quick attraction or connection with someone is by saying that they must have been close to one another in a different life.

The idea of reincarnation is not new, but in recent years it has become a popular topic for discussion again. Some people believe that reincarnation might be possible due to advancements in technology, recent scientific discoveries, and a few real-life stories and facts; that cannot be explained by anything other than this concept.

Many people believe in reincarnation and when they feel an unexplainable connection with someone, they consider the possibility of having had them in a previous life. They take it seriously and believe strongly in it. They may think they may have known this person in the past or it could be the case that they are connected through their spiritual beings.

This can be difficult to explain, but it is something that many sane people experienced and witnessed.

The bottom line:

We are all connected by our emotions, and the first time we meet someone, we can tell to some extent if we’re going to get along with someone we just met, if we’re going to become best buddies or if we are going to clash constantly. We can also tell fairly quickly whether they are a good romantic match for us or not.

Consider finding out the truth about whether you yourself are a good catch on a romantic level, objectively, or if you’re not.

In the end, there are many factors that contribute to the feeling of having a connection with someone. However, there is no clear and direct answer as to why some people might have this feeling as the reasons may differ from one situation to another.
