2) Expectations you put on others:
But if you’re feeling sorry for yourself because of what someone or others didn’t do for you or get you; then you should stop expecting and feeling entitled to having someone else’s attention and care.
Nobody on earth is responsible for doing amazing things for you and making them happen at any cost. You should try and be your own hero. If you expect more in life then find ways to make it happen for yourself without looking at someone else or trying to push them to make your dreams come true.
Everyone is already busy fulfilling their own needs and own dreams, so why impose yourself on someone in that way?
3) Social media:
Another reason as to why you could be having these feelings could be because of social media or because of keeping an eye on what others have and how they live their lives.
If you feel envious or feel like you also deserve what others display on social media then the best approach is to stop following these people and work on yourself.
How to stop feeling sorry for yourself?
If the reason you keep feeling sorry for yourself is from watching other people live their best lives on social media then you should know that not everything you see is necessarily true. Keep in mind that whatever you’re seeing on social media is not an accurate or true representation of other people’s lives.
You would be shocked to see how different someone’s life can be from the life they’re pretending to have on social media. Plus, don’t forget that it pays to put yourself out there and gain a following. So if these people didn’t lack anything financially why would they sell out their own privacy and commit to a full-time job of putting all these details about themselves, their bodies, and lives out there for the entire world to look at, analyze and even maybe criticize.
Forget social media, keep in mind that even what you see in real life about other people is not always all true and rosy. Remember nobody knows what happens behind closed doors, so even couples that you see having the best love story and are happy with each other have their own trials in life that they go through that you may not know of.
Either way the best way to start a journey of being content with oneself and happy is by being accountable for yourself, making a list of your accomplishments, practicing gratitude, enjoying life more, quitting blaming others for your problems, and working towards life goals. It can be hard to change your mindset when you are feeling down, but it’s possible with the right attitude and self-love. You need to be aware of your thoughts and take control of them.
Break the self-pity cycle:
One way to stop this cycle of self-pity is to find a way to remind ourselves that we are not alone. You can do this by getting out of your house and meeting new people. Socialize with others, whether it be through online communities or physical meet-ups. Join clubs, classes, or volunteer opportunities. The more outside interactions you have the less likely you are to feel sorry for yourself.
We should not let ourselves become isolated and instead should try our best to stay connected with people who share similar interests as us. These connections will help us to stop feeling sorry for ourselves because we know that there are other people in the same situation as us and they’re doing just fine!
The more people you meet and get to know, the more you will realize that there’s a bit of everything in the world. There are people with more issues and worries, and in a worse situation than you and there are others in better situations too. So it’s always beneficial to stop focusing only on the ones that have it better or that seem to have it better on social media. It can only be a good idea to quit social media for some time and stop having tunnel vision to realize how many more people are struggling and wishing they were in your shoes!!
